TheWay2Co (Mobile Application)

Image
When asked what I feel is my biggest accomplishment in my development journey, this is the project that comes to mind. In 2021, I launched a mobile application to the App Store and Google Play Store. This application was coded in Dart using Flutter Framework, and linked to Firebase as the backend.  Ideation This all began as a university project, when we were tasked to create an Android application using Java, that would solve a problem commonly faced by students in school. As university campuses are generally not accessible, it makes it troublesome for students to purchase items outside of school, especially for those living in hostels. As I usually go out for suppers during my days in hostel, my group of friends would always ask me to takeaway (dabao) food for them. Hence, we came up with an idea for a task pooling application.  Users who needed an errand done for them could post it on the application, and users who happened to be in the area of what is needed can resp...

Group Fitness Instructor

Image
Apart from Technology, I also dabbled into the fitness industry for awhile. I worked at REVL Raffles Place, as a group fitness coach, as well as a studio manager. During my time here, I met people from different walks of life, and it was truly a very memorable time.  A little background about myself - I don't think I look anything like your typical fitness trainer. I'm 153cm, and definitely on the smaller side. When I first took my certification and started out, many people asked me 'why did you decide to become a coach?'. For the first 23 years of my life, I led a rather unhealthy lifestyle. I was never overweight, so I never saw the need to exercise or eat healthy. However, I fell sick very easily, and was actually very weak physically. In 2022, a new group fitness gym opened beside my office and my colleague convinced me to sign up with her. After training there for a few months, I started noticing big changes in myself. I was generally in a better mood, had more ene...

Work @ Citi

This post is a reflection of my 3+ years as a Technology Analyst in Citi, as well as my future career aspirations. It's going to be pretty wordy compared to the rest because I can't share any pictures of internal banking applications. 👀 Overview I was a part of Citi's graduate program, and this was my first job since graduating from university. During my time there, I was placed in teams on a rotation basis, moving to a different team each year.  During my first and third year, I was a Java backend developer for the Treasury and Trade Solutions team, as well as the Foreign Exchange team respectively. I worked on developing backend features, using Java Springboot framework. I wrote REST APIs to connect our application to our database, which was held in Microsoft Server. I was involved in development, as well as unit and integration testing. I wrote test cases with jUnit, as well as cucumber framework. We used agile methodology and JIRA to keep track of our progress as well...

Green Scanner (Hackathon Champions)

Image
In 2020, I competed in the Junction X Asia hackathon alongside a few of my university classmates. After 72 hours, we managed to emerge champions. We were also placed second through a judging by South Korea's National Council of Climate Change and Air Quality.  Ideation We were tasked to come up with a solution to tackle increasing carbon emissions. We conducted a survey across people with different life stages, and realized that more than 50% of respondents do not engage in environmentally friendly habits, and a larger proportion of people are unaware of carbon emissions and the adverse effect of climate change. Hence, we decided to develop an interaction mobile application that keeps track of consumer's carbon footprints through gamification. Through this, users can turn the amount of carbon footprint saved into reward points in exchange for lifestyle rewards. This in turn incentivises large corporations to develop products with minimal carbon emissions in mind.  Development ...
